Hateboer hit two goals as Atalanta thumped Valencia 4-1at the San Siro, giving the Italians their maiden victory in the UCL Knock out stages. It only took the team from Bergamo 16 minutes to break through the Spanish defence as Hateboer slid in at the back post to turn in Papu Gomez's cross. Goals from Josip Iličić & Remo Freuler either side of half time put Atalanta 3-0 up to the delight of the fans. Atalanta weren’t finished there, as the noise in the stadium was ramped-up Hateboer doubled his tally for the night, running almost half the length of the pitch before shooting past Jaume Doménech.
