Alderweireld has gained a reputation for being one of the most reliable defenders in European football. Impressing as a youngster for Ajax, the Belgian was picked up by Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and went on to reach the UCL final with them in 2014. Now in his third season with Tottenham Hotspur, he has become the defensive cornerstone a team which has now established itself at the top-table of European football. He is as dependable at the back as he is assured on the ball, with a blend of physicality and skill rarely seen in centre-backs.
